Carp are believed to be fish capable of climbing up stream against rapid currents and overcoming all manner of obstacles. Therefore, carp are taken as a symbol of the strength, courage and patience to accomplish major goals.
In Japan, we have custom of hanging out carp streamers on Children's Day to pray that boys in the house will take after carp and live their lives strongly.
Miniature armor is displayed inside the house in hope of healthy growth of the boys, too.
People celebrate baby's first Children's day on a large scale.
I also tried to celebrate Children's day for lovely Simon.
But sadly, I found Koinobori was too expensive to buy.
One day, I was very happy because I found parts of Koinobori in 100yen shop.
Of cause, I bought them and made our Koinobori!
I hope Simon will understand that parental love is same regardless of the price and the size of Koinobori :)
もうすぐ端午の節句。
東のおばちゃんにお祝いをもらい、初節句は盛大に祝うものと知りました。
鯉のぼりが欲しいと思ったものの、お母さんにはすでに兜を貰っていたいた上、「鯉のぼりはあってもしゃーないで」と軽く却下されたので、諦めて自分で買うことにしました。
張り切って買い物に行ったものの、意外に高い！ただのポリエステルのくせに3万円とか4万円の値札がついており意気消沈。。。
ところがある日、100円ショップで鯉のぼりを発見♪
30センチぐらいのものは、ポールから吹流しからすべてセットで100円。
より大きいものは、鯉1匹あたり100円。
ダイソー万歳！！
同じ色でも2種類の絵柄があり、どちらがいいか本気で迷った後で大きい鯉を4匹購入することにしました。
ところが吹流しとポールが売っていなかったので、ちょっと考えた結果、突っ張り棒が使えるのではないかと考え、これも購入（笑）
軽い足取りで家に帰り、タコ糸などでくくり付けてなんとか形にしたものの、口の部分がペッタンコになっているので風が吹いてもいまいち泳がないことに気づいてしまいました。
さすが100円。。。
というわけで、翌日また100均に行って今度は工具売り場でワイヤーを買い、丸く型取り、鯉の口に取り付けた結果、勢いよく風になびくようになりました♪
600円でそこそこ大きい鯉のぼりが完成。
「安くても、子の成長を願う親の気持ちに変わりはないんだよ、志門君」と言いつつ、今日みたいな強風が吹き荒れる日には鯉が1匹、また1匹と飛び立って行かないかちょっと心配しています（笑）
