Visitors on Sunday

On sunday morning, one of my oldfriends visited us and we had lunch together.
Simon likes having a guest at home and he often pretend to be shy at first, though it seems he just wants to get attention.

After taking a nap, Simon played with trains with Meiko.
I was planning to visit her place but she visited us instead as Simon got a cold.

Shinkansen says ' Thank  you for taking Shinansen train. This train is bount for Tokyo' etc.
but it sometimes says 'Thank you for using plarail (name of this toy)' and Simon likes it a lot.

Simon in Tokyo

Simon was missing Toshio and Asako a lot. So I took Simon to Tokyo this weekend.

Simon using toothpick like Toshio

Metro musium

Simon  wanted to stay with Asako and Toshio longer and run around in Tokyo station.
So we stayed one night longer at Asako's place.

Simon got tired by running around in parks and felt asleep in the afternoon.
We left Tokyo while Simon was sleeping.

When he got awake again in Shinkansen, he got disapointted, didn't speak anything for 10 min, and felt asleep again.
After that, he requested me to go back to Tokyo again many timees.

Sumiyoshi Taisha

Today was the last day of winter holidays for us.
I really feels holiday time flies.

We went to Sumiyoshi Shrine as we thought we should do something cultural and traditional for New Years holiday.

New years day

Otoso

a special liquer made by steeping herbs in sake to drive away evil and revive the soul

Salted herring roe

Simmered black soy beans

Candied dried sardines

Osechi-ryori

Osechi-ryori are pecially-prepared New Year's dishes to be eaten during the first three days of January. Most dishes are cooked in order to be preserved for at least three days so women don't have to cook during that period. Various kinds of dishes are set in four-tiered lacquer boxes.

Each of the dishes has some auspicious meaning which reflects people's wishes.
For example, Kazunoko, herring roe, represents fertility, Kuromame, cooked black beans, are for health (mame means healthy), and lobsters are for longevity because their bodies are bent like an old man's.

After eating and drinking a lot..
